About Church of St. John

Church "Beheading of St. John the Baptist" from Vaslui, also known as the Royal Church of Vaslui, is an Orthodox church built by ruler Stephen the Great (1457-1504) in 1490.

It was founded within the Royal court, to serve as a chapel. Because of the earthquakes damages, the church was rebuilt in 1820.
Church "St. John" is built in Moldavian architectural style.

Painting from the reign of Stephen the Great, was restored in 1894 by George Ioanid and in 1940 by Sebastian Constantinescu.
