About Salt Mine of Ocnele Mari

Exploitation of salt was done in ancient times, revealing the discovery in this area of a  significant numbers of ax-hammer  belonging to the mining, from Neolithic cultures, Bronze and Iron Age first.

Salina has an annual temperature of 15 degrees C, the length of access 1.300 m, total area 20.000 m2, the height of the landscaped underground chambers measures 8 m.
