About Concretions Museum

The concretion is a hard, compact mass of sedimentary rock formed by the precipitation of mineral cement within the spaces between the sediment grains.

Are often encountered as ovoid or spherical shape, although, irregular shapes also, occur. The formation is from mineral precipitation around some kind of nucleus, while a nodule is a replacement body.

Concretions vary in shape, hardness and size, ranging from objects that require a magnifying lens to be clearly visible, to huge bodies about three meters in diameter and weighing several kg.
