About St. Elijah Church

Church Sfantul Ilie (St. Elijah) is a church founded in 1488 by Voivod Stephen the Great, in the village of Sfantu Ilie, district Suceava.

It is situated at a distance of 1.5 kilometers northwest of Suceava city.

Church Sfantul Ilie is composed of three objectives:

"St. Elias" - dating from 1488.
Belfry - dating from the XV-XVIII.
Wall site - dating from the XV-XVIII.

Above the entrance door in the narthex is an inscription reads as follows: "Io, Stephen Voivod, son of Bogdan Voivod, prince of Moldova Country, we built this church (house) on behalf of the Holy Prophet Elijah; and was started in 6996 (= 1488), May 1; and ended the same year, on October 15 "
