About Calimani National Park

The Calimani National Park (Parcul National Calimani) is a protected area situated in Romania.

Located in Calimani Mountains, including the largest volcanic crater in Romania with a diameter of about 10 km (out now), Calimani National Park has a total area of 24.041 ha and includes the following areas:

Scientific Reserve of juniper trees of Pinus cembra
Reserve Lake Iezer
Geological Reserve 12 Apostles

Negoiu Unguresc Peak 2.081 m

Pietrosu Peak 2.100 m

National Park Calimani houses a rich population of carnivores: bear, wolf, lynx but, otter, marten, badger also chamois, deer, bats, wild pigs, predatory birds: golden eagle, northern goshawk, hawk, common buzzard, kestrel red, saker falcon, peregrine falcon, asio.

The development of agro-tourism hotels and chalets makes the area of Calimani National Park to be a recreational place, as they say, a "green" tourism.

In the time spent in Calimani National Park you can practice horse riding (riding), hiking, cycling, fishing, or enjoy the nature in its true splendor in the wildest parts of Europe, where wildlife population is very large.
