About The Fortified Church of Bagaciu

Fortified Evangelical Church from Bagaciu, Mures district, Romania, was built in the fifteenth century.It is listed as a historical monument.

Evangelical church from Bagaciu village was built with stone brought by cart from the Cibin mountains . It was first attested in a document of 1389, but the present hall church in the style of Gothic mature, was built a few decades later, in the early fifteenth century before the year of 1421.

The oval fortification around the church had defensive walls of 8 m high with wooden guard roads, now vanished, and was doubled in the north and east by an additional curtain. In the south-east of the fortified assembly there is a gate-tower built with four levels.
