About Wooden Church from Ieud Ses

A second wooden church in Ieud, in plain or valley, was built by the archival documents in 1712, or after the tradition in 1717. The interior was decorated in Byzantine style in 1765 by painter Alexander Ponehalschi. The place is dedicated to the Virgin Birth and is a historical monument.

It is one of the largest wooden buildings in Romania, being called "wooden cathedral”. It is perhaps the most beautiful wooden church in Maramures.

Inside of the church preserves a beautiful and valuable collection of icons on glass from Nicula  and other centers of Transylvania.

The polygonal apse is unhooked, rectangular nave has a semi-cylindrical vault canted.

Tower rises above the narthex ceiling, with a slim silhouette and a considerable height. The roof is very high and steep, with double lap.
