About The Three Holy Hierarchs Monastery

The Three Holy Hierarchs Monastery is an Orthodox monastery and a historic monument, with a great architecture value.

Between 1637-1639, Vasile Lupu the great defender of the Orthodox Church and ruler of Moldavia built this church.

The monastery is burnt and pillaged between 1650-1686 by invaders from east and north. Affected by earthquakes (1711, 1781, 1795, 1802), will be renovated during 1882-1887.

The church is built in Moldavian style, combining traditional structures and forms with precious and marvelous decorations.

The painting was done by the most famous masters: Sidov Pospeev, Iacob Gavrilov, together with the Moldavian painters  Nicolae and Stefan.

In The Three Holy Hierarchs Monastery, sleeps their eternal life, rulers Vasile Lupu, voivod Dimitrie Cantemir and ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza.
