About "Al. I. Cuza" Palace

The palace is built in 1804 by the great treasurer Sandulache Sturdza, in neoclassic style.

In 1847, the palace is inherited by the boyar Costache Sturdza and is restored in Neo-Gothic style.

Governor Alexandru Sturdza (son of Costache Sturdza), made a loan ​​in 1857 to the National Bank of Moldova, mortgaging palace and estate Ruginoasa. National Bank of Moldova organizes an auction for palace and estate,  because Alexander Sturzda has not paid rates.

Thus in 1862, the ruler Alexandru Ioan, buy the castle and estate on auction.

In the time of Alexander Ioan Cuza, the palace is restored mostly by his wife, Elena Cuza.

From 1982 until now, the palace hosts "Alexandru Ioan Cuza Memorial Museum", the last restoration was done in the period 2006-2010 by the Romanian Government.
