About The Roman Baths

In Roman times, Baile Geoagiu were known as "Thermae Germisara" or "Germisara cum Thermis".

The Roman thermal baths (Germisara) remained almost in the same form as in antiquity, being built in the current location of Geoagiu-Bai, into a circular promontory of 90-95 m diameter.

In 1935, at the excavation of a small pool (of thermal water), were disinterred the statues of Esculap (Aesculap) and Aegean (Hygeea), which testify the intense life of those times.
