About Prislop Monastery

Prislop Monastery is an Orthodox monastery from Romania located near the village of Silvasu de Sus, Hunedoara County. For almost seven centuries it represents  one of the most important Orthodox religious settlement in Transylvania.

The present church dates from the fourteenth century and it was made of stone, in triconical plan, with a tower on the nave,  architecture specific to the Romanian churches. The historiography of monastery shows that the  Saint Nicodemus from Tismana Monastery  has copied in  Prislop Monastery, between 1404-1405, "Slavonic Tetravanghelul" found today at the Museum of Art from Bucharest.
