About Ostrov Church

Church "Pentecost" from Ostrov village, Hunedoara county, is among the oldest Romanian monuments of wall preserved in Transylvania. The church was built in the fourteenth century and is an historical monument.

The church, dedicated to the feast of "Pentecost" is surrounded by 208 stones with Latin epigraphs, deliberately appointed a veritable collection in the first half of the sixteenth century. The abode, former court chapel, is a building elongated rectangular. Ship (4.50 x 5.20 m), vaulted plank is extended to the east in a semicircular apse, the west is bounded by a slim tower.
