About Germisara Roman Camp

Germisara Roman camp, once known as the Cigmau Roman camp was a auxiliary unit camp, along with a civilian settlement, located south of Cigmau village, near the town Geoagiu, Hunedoara county.

It is considered very important by experts, for that defended the old imperial road  that connected the capital of Roman Dacia Traiana Ulpia from Micia (Vetel), Apulum (Alba Iulia) and gold mine in the Apuseni Mountains  (Zlatna and Rosia Montana).

In camp was quartered the military unit Numerus Singulariorum Britannicianorum and subunits of the XIII Gemina Legion.
