About Bison Reserve from Hateg

Reserve Hateg-Silvut is the first Romanian reserve where European bison   made its reappearance. The reserve was founded in 1958 by bringing a pair of bison - Podarec and Polonkai - from Poland.

The purpose of the reserve is the breeding and the transfer of bison to other reserves.

A mature bison, after 7-8 years, weighs a ton, the female about 400, 500, up to 600 kg.

Currently, in reserve there are 10 examples of bison.
