About Gheorghe Zamfir Museum

Gheorghe Zamfir is a Romanian pan flute musician. He is known as "The Master of the Pan Flute".

Zamfir is also known for playing an expanded version of the traditional Romanian-style pan flute (nai) of 20 pipes to 22, 25, 28 and 30 pipes to increase its range, and obtaining as many as eight overtones (additionally to the fundamental tone) from each pipe by changing the embouchure.

Innovative pan flute

Gheorghe Zamfir bring innovative changes to traditional Romanian pan flute of 20 pipes, replacing it with new variants containing successively 22, 25, 28 and 30 tubes, to broaden the tonal range as follows: pan flute alto (22 tubes), tenor (25 tubes), bass (28 tubes) and bass pan flute (30 tubes - appeared in 1972).

In 2003 manufactured panpipe called Giant having 42 tubes, 1.35 m high and 1.2 m wide.

The House Museum is arranged in the Museum of Folk Architecture.
