About Astronomical Observatory

Astronomical Observatory of Galati is the largest and most modern public and educational observatory in Romania. It’s the first public roof-mounted observatory in the country.

The public has acces to:
Coronado SolarMax telescope for solar observations in H-alpha lens with diameter 60mm, unique in Romania.

Coronado PST telescope for solar observations in H-alpha lens with diameter of 40 mm.

Dobson Meade telescope with primary mirror, diameter of 400 mm, the largest in Romania for night public use, and three more telescopes, with diameter of 200 mm, 250 mm and 300 mm.

The Observatory is located on the second floor of the Complex Museum of Natural Sciences Galati, near the Planetarium.

Astronomical Observatory will be open to the public only in the clear sky days.
