About Stelea Monastery

Ruler Vasile Lupu has built the monastery between 1636-1645, the church Stelea is still preserved today.

In 1658 Turks and Tartars attack the monastery, it suffers great damage but resist, because of Cossacks, who were in the monastery and fought against the Turks and Tatars.

In the Constantin Brancoveanu reign, the church was repaired, equipped with stone floor and furniture.

The church presents a Moldavian architecture, a replica of the famous monastery of Iasi, "Three Hierarchs". The painting represents Brancoveanu style and dates from 1705.
