About Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park

The Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park is a protected area situated on the administrativ territory of counties Caras-Severin, Gorj and Mehedinti.

The national park stretches over Cerna Mountains and Godeanu Mountains on the right side, and over Valcan Mountains and Medinti Mountains on the left side (in Retezat-Godeanu Mountains), in the Cerna River basin.

Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park, houses a rich population of carnivores: bear, fox, lynx, otter, marten, badger, wildcat, but also Carpathian deer, deer, birds: golden eagle, peregrine falcon, common buzzard, red kite, white-throated dipper and northern goshawk.

Lake Prisaca

White Cross - from Baile Herculane follow the trail marked with blue cross, route duration 2 hours.

Tasnei Canyon - 2 km above from Prisaca bridge on the right side, follow the trail marked with blue cross, route duration 3 hours.

Corcoaia Canyon - Corcoaia Canyon - is situated at 40 km from Baile Herculane, 200 m upstream from the locality Cerna Sat, the canyon length is 300 m.

Caves route - from Baile Herculane (Catholic Church) - Ciorici Peak - Elisabeta Peak - Peri Glade - Ciorici Peak - Steam Cave - Adam Cave - Thieves Cave - Cleft Cave. Marked trail, blue triangle, route duration 4 hours.

Vanturatoarea Waterfall - at the tail of lake Prisaca is a bridge, from there follow the trail marked with red cross, route duration 1 hour.

The development of agro-tourism hotels and chalets makes the Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park to be a recreational place, as they say, a "green" tourism.
