About Cotroceni National Museum

Cotroceni National Museum is a cultural institution - scientific and educational, focusing on the promoting the values of history and national art of the last three centuries, in accordance with current requirements of museology and visitors.

The museum is located in Cotroceni Palace where can be visited places from the former monastery of Cotroceni and former royal palace of Cotroceni, where King Ferdinand and Queen Mary lived, as well as decorative art old collections.

In present, Cotroceni Palace is a National Museum, but it is also the residence of the President of Romania.

Tuesday - Sunday: 9:30 - 17:30  (16:30 - access of the last group)

Tuesday - Sunday: 9:30 - 17:00

The museum can be visited also on Mondays, with a prior booking, in case of:
               - groups of minimum 30 people, with a foreign language tour
               - groups of minimum 50 people, with a Romanian language tour

The Cotroceni Church

Free of charge

The church of the former Cotroceni monastery is to be visited at the end of the guided tour.
For guests that want to visit the Church exclusively, groups of 10 people will be organized at the entrance.

Closed: 1st and 2nd January, 1st and 2nd Day of Easter, 1st and 2nd Day of Pentecost, 15th August, 1st December, 1st and 2nd Day of Christmas.

The ticket office and the shop close 30 minutes prior to the end of visiting hours.


Adults: 27 lei/pers. (12 lei museum access and 15 lei foreign language tour)
Pupils and students: 21 lei/pers (6 lei museum acces and 15 lei foreign language tour)

Temporary exhibitions: 5 - 10 lei/pers (depending on the exhibition)

Photography and filming:

Pictures amateurs - 40 lei per unit
Filming amateurs - 150 lei per unit
Professional photography and filming in the Cotroceni National Museum can be done with a prior written address to the director, at e-mail or fax: 021.312.16.18, at least one week before.
Private photography and filming (for weddings, baptisms etc.) are not allowed


It is mandatory  - to present a valid ID (identity card, passport)
                       - to leave bags and coats in the wardrobe
                       - to use protective slippers
It is forbidden: - access with food and drinks
                     - leaving the group during the tour

Visitors are kindly asked to keep their ticket while in the museum.
