About The Fortified Church of Prejmer

UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Fortified Church was built in the thirteenth century on an ancient Romanesque
basilica dating from the twelfth century. Fortified evangelical church ensemble, consisting of church premises fortified with defense road, two towers, two bastions, gate tower is a historical monument.

Prejmer because it was the first locality that first hit the Turks came by step from Buzau, after King Sigismund of Luxembourg decided raising defense systems in Barsa, began fortifying the church by raising an enclosure surrounded by a high and strong wide ditch water. The fortress, built in the shape of circles, have thick walls 3-4 meters high and 12 meters towers, gates and bridges amounted iron.
