About Agafton Monastery

Orthodox monastery, built in 1729 by hermit Agafton.

Ensemble of Agafton monastery is a historical monument and is composed of:

Church "Descent of the Holy Spirit" - dating from the period 1838-1843.

Wooden church "St. Archangels"- dating from 1747.

54 houses (cells) monastery - dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries

The bell tower

The church "St. Archangels" was built in 1747 by hermit Agafton, made entirely of thick oak beams.

Church "Descent of the Holy Spirit" was built between 1838-1843, due to the fact that the old wooden church became overcrowded.
