About Vadu Crisului Cave

Even if the waterfall from Crisul Repede Pass has been described since the end of the 19th century, the so called discovery of the cave happened in 1903. The cave has been explored by K. Handl and I. Czaran who were the first ant then, K. Handl, I. Veress ┼či K. Jordan. Count Zichy – who used to own the land – fitted out the cave, building wooden footbridges and stairs.

Has a length of 1.510 m and consists of a main corridor from which is detach many side galleries and theaters.

It is one of the richest in cave fauna from Romania,  there are present many species of snails, worms, insects, crustaceans and bat horseshoe-shaped snout.
