About Piatra Craiului National Park

Piatra Craiului National Park is a protected area of national interest, located on the territory of counties Arges and Brasov.

National Park is located in the Southern Carpathians, in Piatra Craiului Mountains, has a total area of ​​14.773 ha, distributed on the territories of the localities Dambovicioara and Rucar from Arges county and in Brasov county on the territories of the localities Bran, Moieciu and Zarnesti.

The park is an area of ​​steep peaks of metamorphic rocks, limestone cliffs, meadows, pastures, wooded areas, scree, alpine gaps, canyons, caves, rivers and karst areas.

Piatra Craiului National Park houses a rich population of carnivores: bear, wolf, lynx, fox, wild cat but also chamois, carpathian stag, bats, deer, wild pigs, predatory birds: golden eagle, northern goshawk, hawk, common buzzard, kestrel red, saker falcon, peregrine falcon, asio.
