About Hodos-Bodrog Monastery

The Hodos-Bodrog Monastery is an Orthodox monastery  situated in Mures Floodplain Natural Park, Arad County.

The present church dates from the second half of the fourteenth century, built in Byzantine style, from stone and roman brick. The interior is decorated with painting since 1658, by the painter Nicodim Diaconul.

Furniture and iconostasis was carved by Abbot Ieronim Balintoni in 1940.

The church exterior is decorated with niches, some of which are painted "a fresco" by artist E. Profeta in 1968.

The monastery played an important role in society of Arad, teaching the children from neighboring villages reading and writing.
