Unesco World Heritage

Capalna Dacian Fortress is located on the teritory of Capalna locality at a maximum height of 687 meters.

The Capalna fortress was built during the reign of Burebista (second century BC - 106 AD), with the role to oversee the major crossings over the mountains. In the time of Burebista, the fortress was destroyed by fire during the Dacian-Roman wars. This citadel was used as a refuge in the centuries that followed.
